Swim for Syria

Thank You!

Over the course of my career, I had the opportunity to give back to my local community many ways. The experience of supporting new comers to our region during the Syrian Refugee Crisis of 2015 was one that I found extremely rewarding. At that time, with help of family, swim instructors and volunteers, we ran swim classes (with interpreters) and prepared kits and school knapsacks of necessary items to welcome those to the Halton.

My heart still goes out to all of the Syrian refugee families that we had the opportunity to work with. In us reaching out to to serve them, I learned the life lesson that in working through the process, that they actually gave more back to us than we did to them.

I've always believed that learning to swim is an important life skill. Canada has many lakes, rivers and pools and it is very important that everyone has the opportunity to learn how to swim.
